Full Moon in Scorpio – Wesak – Soul Purification

The Full Moon at 22° Scorpio is a master moon of intense soul purification. Also known as the Wesak moon, it marks the high spiritual point of the year. At this time, the light reveals the deepest shadows and you have the choice to rise.

Scorpio is a sign that deals with the astral plane, and if you are carrying old emotional energy you may find it emerging around this time. Purification practices before the full moon such as ritual bathing, salt baths, salt cave, energy healing with essential oils and crystals are beneficial. If there are things from the past you wish to leave behind, such as releasing past soul ties and cutting cords, this is a perfect time to do a release ritual.

The focus of this full moon is service, and when we are preoccupied with our own stuff, we cannot really be of service. Releasing and purifying old energy helps to clear your fields so you can be more available for your purpose.

Scorpio is symbolised by the scorpion, and the lower astral emotions are toxic when left unprocessed. Scorpio is fixed water, and these energies can ‘stew and brew’ in the deep dark psyche, erupting at moments when you lose control and react unconsciously to something. Emotional control is the way to the higher realms of Scorpio. This does not mean suppressing your emotions. It means detaching and not letting them control you, while viewing them from a higher plane. Your triggers will show you what still needs releasing and purifying.

When you become accustomed to focusing your awareness in the mental plane and not the astral, you become like the eagle, with acute and far-ranging vision. You realise the alchemy that is possible with Scorpio, finding the gold from purging and transforming your darkness. In time, you will become the phoenix.

The major aspect to the full moon is an opposition to Uranus, which is conjunct the Sun. The exact Sun Uranus conjunction is four days after the full moon, and this aspect will dominate the middle of May, bringing high frequency light codes and streams of awakening energy to humanity. The opposition to the full moon brings surprising or unexpected events; truths being revealed; and powerful stimuli for awakening. Venus has begun a new synodic cycle as the Pisces Goddess, and on the descent, as the Morning Star, this marks a time of purifying the emotional body and finding pure compassion and acceptance for self and others. This ties in with the themes of Saturn and the North Node, and this Scorpio moon gateway of intense purification. If you can visualise your emotional body as a flowing stream, it should look crystal clear.

There is much work to be done in the world, and each of us has our role. Your heart will guide you towards your purpose, as this is the gateway to the soul. Whatever your task, one thing is universally important: we should endeavour not to pollute the astral plane with fear or lower emotional energies, as this collective pool affects humanity every moment. On this full moon, much can be purified and transformed; and much high frequency light can be called down and actively embodied.
