Full Moon in Scorpio – Beltane – Wesak

The Full Moon in Scorpio magnifies the emotional energy that has been building since the new moon in Aries two weeks ago. This is known as the Buddha Moon, the most sacred full moon of the year. Scorpio reveals the shadows and brings the opportunity to fill them with light. Magical alchemy occurs, when you focus your intentions like a laser beam.

This full moon also aligns with the fire festival of Beltane, on 1 May. This is a time of rising energy, fire and sacred union. The sap is rising in the leaves as springtime blossoms and we move into summer. Traditionally the Sacred Marriage, this festival celebrates the union of masculine and feminine.

The Taurus Scorpio axis is about strength and stability, fixity, earth and water, body and psyche. The Sun in Taurus illuminates the physical plane, which we know through our senses and desires. The body, possessions, material resources, and the natural world generate the desire to enjoy, own and acquire. When the desire to accumulate is superseded by the desire to bring light, then the material world is illuminated.

The Moon in Scorpio reveals what is hidden in the psyche. Hidden desires, subconscious blocks, past trauma and fears all may come to light. Scorpio is like a depth probe that reveals and heals. Once seen, the conscious desire to release will point the way for healing.

This is a moon of powerful alchemy – the energies are supporting transformation on all levels. The full moon is making a square to Pluto, the ruler of Scorpio, pushing you to dig deep and give everything you have to your healing process. Now is the time to root out long buried issues, release negativity, and embody more light.

A wide trine to Jupiter brings a generous, abundant energy. When you move forwards in alignment you will be supported. When you take care of others, you will be taken care of. This is the law of life. When you find the wisdom from your experiences, the true alchemy occurs.

Mars, the mundane ruler of Scorpio, is in Aries, along with four other planets, bringing a huge fire energy to this full moon. Scorpio is a water sign, symbolised by the Scorpion. When the lower astral and emotional energies are transcended, Scorpio becomes the eagle and then the Phoenix. This portal holds great potential for transformation, as you rise from the ashes of your life, igniting the fire within.

We have an exact Mercury Chiron conjunction on this day, in Aries. This signals the healing of wounds, through messages of hope, healing and transcendence. Chiron in Aries relates to a very deep primal wounding in the intrinsic sense of self. Aries is the fire of mind, the divine spark within. When this is wounded, we do not know our divinity or have confidence in ourselves. To recognise the spark, the flame in the heart, and the gateway to the soul, is to recognise that we are part of the Creator. To love ourselves is to love the Creator. To have faith in ourselves is to have faith in the spark of divinity within.

Uranus, the Great Awakener, has just entered Gemini, in exact conjunction with Alcyone, the brightest star in the Pleiades. This is a very high frequency conjunction, bringing starry assistance and the opportunity to break patterns and transcend former limitation.

All in all, this is a lunation of huge magic and alchemy. Wesak, the sacred moon of the Buddha, is a time of intense purification and devotion to the sacred work. Beltane, the sacred marriage, celebrates the inner union which brings wholeness and integration.

Scorpio, sign of the alchemist, in aspect to Pluto, says that all things are possible when you see the truth and have the courage to die to the old. With the predominance of fire energy, you have the opportunity to unite with the fire of spirit and be more than you believed you could be.
