The New Moon in Cancer has extremely potent energy which can go either way, empowering towards the light, higher awareness and soul evolution; or descending into the darkness. It is up to each one of us to steer this influence towards a higher trajectory.

The new moon is the beginning of a new monthly cycle, and marks the beginning of longer cycles of time. The Moon in its own sign of Cancer brings about renewal in the areas of home and family, nurturing and protection, sensitivity and dreams, and emotional life. These qualities are amplified by Jupiter, in almost exact conjunction with the Sun and Moon. We have a very “big” emotional energy at the moment, where issues are magnified. This can be very positive in terms of relationships with important people in your life, as an opportunity to forge new beginnings by remembering the love and what really matters. It can also cause minor issues to be blown out of proportion.

The new moon is sextile to Mars, urging you to take positive action on new insights gained. New opportunities arise when you come back to your inner sense of stability and security, and realise that love is generated from within. This is about how you use your energy, and take action with integrity.

The Sun and Moon are conjunct the star Tejat Prior in the constellation of Gemini, which is known to create problems with pride, arrogance, violence and a mercenary nature. The new moon and Mars are creating a Yod, or Finger of Fate formation pointing at Pluto, which can be used for destructive aims. This brings the potential for irresponsible, warlike tendencies and using energy in the wrong way.

The highest use of this Yod energy with the influence of the fixed star Tejat Prior and Pluto, is to recognise your inner darkness and consciously transform it, transmuting and rebirthing all traces of negative energy, latent fears, and subconscious anger and hate. It is time to question your motives in all things – if you are operating from greed, violence or revenge things will backfire and generate more negative karmas. As we transmute our own shadow, we transmute for the collective.

Mercury is moving into opposition with Pluto which amplifies this energy, as it brings out the shadows of the psyche into conscious awareness. Whatever arises in your mind is asking to be healed and cleared. This can herald a major psychological purging and renewal.
