August Energies - Sirius Rising

We begin the month with the Sun in Leo, and Mercury Retograde in Leo. The focus is on sovereignty, creative self-expression, confidence and heart-led endeavours; while Mercury casts a retrospective glance through the house it is transiting in your chart. Venus in Cancer brings softness and sensitivity in relationships, and Mars in Virgo encourages precise focused work. Sirius is rising with the Sun across the Northern latitudes, bringing an influx of light and power from our spiritual sun, the Great Star of Isis.

 

The Saturn Neptune conjunction is now retrograde in Aries, forming a lesser grand trine with Uranus in Gemini and Pluto in Aquarius. This brings a balance and power between the outer planets, encouraging a flow of inspiration and transformation.

 

6 August: Mars enters Libra

The planet of will, drive and active energy enters Libra, the opposite sign to Aries, the sign of its rulership. Masculine energy strives for justice, fairness and balance. The drive to support the underdog is strong. The warrior of words conquers the world with ideas and logic.

 

Sirius is the higher star to our Sun, and its cycle, known as the Sothic cycle, is tied to our Sun. This is why the rising of Sirius was considered to be New Year’s Day for the ancient Egyptians. The Star Sirius is the Star of Isis, the great mother goddess. As She rose in her dazzling brilliance, the Nile waters would flood the land, and when the waters drew back, the fertile black soil of Khemet would nourish the people for another year.

 

The full moon is unaspected, apart from a rare quintile to Mars, and the Sun quintile Saturn Neptune. A mystic rectangle involving Mercury retrograde opposite Pluto brings out powerful oppositions within the psyche.

 

10 August: Mercury Direct 4° Leo

Finally Mercury moves direct, and we enter Mercury shadow phase for the next three weeks, which can also bring the tendency for misunderstandings and miscommunications

 

The benific planets Venus and Jupiter make an exact alignment on Sirius, at 14* Cancer. This alignment brings supreme abundance, love, wisdom, enlightenment and higher love.

 

8 - 20 August Mystic Rectangle

The mystic rectangle is a complex formation that speaks of tension, challenges and the means to resolve them. It is formed of two oppositions, two trines and two sextiles. These two oppositions form a rectangle connected by flowing aspects that ease the tension, and help to unlock problems with creative thinking, going with the flow, and divine inspiration.

22 August Sun enters Virgo

We enter Virgo season, mutable earth. This is the most mental of the earth signs, grounded yet focused and precise. During this month the emphasis is on detailed work, levelling up and striving for excellence. Virgo is known as a perfectionist, and while the Sun moves through this sign we aim to develop, evolve and perfect our gifts and abilites.

 

The New Moon at 0* Virgo is a potent force of new creation. A square to Uranus brings unpredictable events and sudden revelations. Rare quintile aspects to Pluto, Neptune and Saturn bring unexpected twists of fate, as you discover new ways to utilise your soul gifts.

 

25 August Venus enters Leo

The Goddess of Love enters the sign of the Sovereign Queen. This is a time to love and adore yourself for the radiant god/goddess that you are. Be like the lion/lioness, bold, confident, unafraid; revelling in the beauty and splendour of you.
