Mercury Retrograde in Leo - Intensity

Mercury goes retrograde from 18 July – 10 August, between 15* - 4* Leo, for a deeply reflective and powerful sojourn through the light of Sirius and the soul tests of Pluto.

 

The sign of Leo is known for its passion and flair. The fiery lion wants to stand in the limelight and be admired by all. The highest qualities of Leo are courage and heart-centred authenticity, creativity and nobility. While Mercury is in retrograde, we can experience delays, misunderstandings, miscommunications and tech glitches which can cause a build-up of frustration. So we will see some of the shadow qualities of Leo come into play, such as needing to be right, or being overly dramatic, arrogant and egotistical. Sparks will fly, and this is a perfect opportunity to test your inner calm.

 

However, this Mercury retrograde is much deeper.

 

Take a look at which house Mercury is transiting in your natal chart, and look at the degrees of 4 – 15 Leo. This will show you which area of life is being affected. This area of life is where you can cast your mind back for a retrospective glance, look at the past with hindsight, and gather the lessons learned, to be stronger in the future.

 

As Mercury the Divine messenger transits the sign of the Heart, it is time to bring your mental and spiritual awareness to the heart, the gateway to the Soul. The transit of the Sun in Leo is a heightened time energetically; we have the energy of Sirius rising, and some intense Pluto transits influencing the skies.

 

On 24 July the New Moon in Leo will oppose Pluto, bringing intense reflection on the shadow, and deep psychological healing. This new moon is a time to forge new beginnings rooted in authenticity.

 

On 1 August the Sun will conjunct Mercury Rx, illuminating the planet of mind, and bringing a sharper awareness to the themes and lessons of this retrograde phase.

 

Mercury retrograde will oppose Pluto for the first part of August, and after it moves direct on 10 August. This describes intense mental reflection, and the possibility to see deeply into psychological patterns, and how they link to the heart and soul evolution.

 

On 10 August Mercury moves direct, and enters the shadow phase. On this day we have a Mystic Rectangle involving Mercury and Pluto; Saturn, Neptune and Mars. A mystic rectangle is formed of two oppositions, two trines and two sextiles; it brings tension and the means to unlock it through cosmic keys and the union of opposites. This is a day for aha moments, and profound inner shifts in consciousness.

 

This retrograde phase is about unifying the light and shadow; accepting your darkness and integrating all into the light. When you truly accept yourself and the beauty of your soul, you will see the flame in your heart and the know truth of who you are. You will love and accept others, see them and know them, and be able to live each moment in the immediacy of the heart.
