January Astrology - Powerful New Beginnings

Welcome to the month of January, with its energies of dramatic changes and powerful new beginnings. 2026 is a Universal 1 year, the first in a new cycle of nine years. This has the effect of cleaning the slate and beginning afresh in many areas of life. We are still at the end of the Year of the Wood Snake, so we continue to unwind the coils of a year of wisdom and growth, releasing old skins, shedding all that is outworn and outdated, until the lunar eclipse on 17 February. The 1 vibration makes this process swifter and more potent.


The month kicks off with the Full Moon in Cancer conjunct Sirius, bringing big emotions into play, and spiritual realignment as karmic patterns come into view.


17 January Venus enters Aquarius

Venus moves from the cardinal earth of Capricorn to the fixed air of Aquarius. Love and relationships become more cerebral, with the breeze of change bringing the urge for freedom and new ideas. Do something unexpected - find new inspiration - allow yourself to think out of the box.


18 January New Moon in Capricorn

The New Moon is conjunct Mercury, Mars, Venus and Pluto with aspects to Uranus, Saturn and Neptune. This signals explosive new beginnings and radical change. This is a time to plant seeds for the future with carefully focused intentions.


20 January Sun enters Aquarius

As the Sun begins its annual transit of this sign, thoughts turn to radical new ideas, community spirit and the quest for freedom. Expect technology to take centre stage as we learn to navigate  it, and look for ways to keep our humanity intact.


20 January Mercury enters Aquarius

Mercury in Aquarius is forward thinking, future focused, inspired and revolutionary. There will be much discussion of new ideas and trends; and this is an ideal time to propose new humanitarian projects and paths of service.


23 January Mars enters Aquarius

Mars, planet of action and male energy, enters the sign of community and future oriented service. Much can be achieved for humanity and the earth under this influence.


26 January Neptune enters Aries

Mighty planet Neptune enters Aries for its sojourn through the first sign of the zodiac, which will last until 2039. This is the beginning of a new era of radical spirituality, authentic soul connection, and returning to the purity of yourself and your mission.


Jupiter, planet of wisdom and expansion, continues its retrograde stint in Cancer, causing a “wrap up” of the emotions of the past year and previous cycle. Saturn, Lord of Karma, is completing its transit of Pisces, and with it the lessons of releasing victimhood, martyrdom, and guru worship; as it prepares to move into Aries next month. Uranus continues to retrograde through Taurus, rearranging material reality with the energies of transformation. Pluto stands at the beginning of Aquarius, and, as the Sun enters Aquarius later this month, we will feel the impetus of sweeping changes. Now is the time to hold your frequency and be a part of this wave of change.
